.Overview of Assignment
Choose any one topic from those listed below and critically discuss their importance for the effective management of people in global organisations in the 21st century. In your essay use relevant theory and practice literature provided to you during the course and your wider reading
. Also, proffer at least 3 clear recommendations of ways managers can improve your chosen area of practice

When answering the essay question, you should:
a.
Critically evaluate your topic using academic literature and examples from what has been covered in the unit/ your wider reading. This demonstrates your understanding of the theories relating to your chosen topic i.e., demonstrates subject knowledge.
b.
You should also make clear why the chosen topic is important to the management of people. Where possible explore the implication of current issues i.e., globalisation and their impact on your topic.
c.
You may include relevant organisational examples from your personal experience at work.
d.
Proffer at least 3 clear recommendations of ways managers can improve your chosen area of practice.

the unit’s Turnitin submission box by the deadline.
2.
Use A4 size document, Times New Roman size 12 font, 1.5 spaced lines, and 2.54 cm margins.
3.Please clearly indicate the word count on your title page.
4.The essay must be correctly referenced, using the Harvard Referencing system (Author Date Method), with both in-text references and a References list after the main body of the text.
Note:
Inability to stay within the word limit will be considered as a negative characteristic during the assessment process (taken as a proof of lack of editing) and will normally result in a lower mark, to account for the unfair advantage in opportunities for additional expression the extra word count
may have provided.
2, an essay for (1850 words)
Overview of Assignment
Write a report on a company of your choice and discuss how they can improve their organisational
practices in a changing business environment. Choose and focus on any two topics covered in weeks
7-11 and where necessary refer to wider themes that have been touched on in the unit to show the
breadth of your understanding of the topics.

Organisational Structure
Leadership
Power and Politics
Evaluate your chosen topics using theory and models in Organisational Behaviour. Where relevant try
to draw on best practice from other organisations to suggest practical improvements.
Assignment Tips & Hints:A. Choosing the organization:
Choose an organisation that has plenty of information published about its OB practices
and issues. You can source information from the company’s website, on news sites,
written publications (e.g., Harvard Business Review), documentaries etc. Remember
that a company will never publish any information that has the potential to show
themselves in a negative light. Therefore, to get an unbiased view do a wider search
and use as many sources as possible.
B. Evaluating OB issues in the organization:
You might want to research the company first, while reflecting on what you have learnt
within the unit.
Focus in-depth on the primary topics you choose but make references to other topics
where appropriate and if you feel that it is relevant to your report. This will help you to
illustrate on the depth and breadth of your knowledge.
You must consider the Global context of your propositions as well as what is local to the
organization.
Where appropriate bring in examples of good practice from other organizations to
illustrate your argument.
Read the Unit handbook and the assignment brief, as well as the ILO’s being assessed.
C. Planning the structure of the report
Executive Summary (A summary which gives a brief outline of your whole report usually
written after the main body has been completed) (200 words).
Introduction (300 words).
Evaluation of each topic (1000 words).
Recommendations for improvement (300 words these could be in each section or as a
completely separate section).
Conclusion (200 words).
References not in word count.
D. Points for the report
Bear in mind that the following will be considered under written communication while assessing your
submission:
i. Structure and style: use of a fit for purpose structure and layout; evidence of
formatting including use of suitable and relevant headings and sub -heading where
necessary.
ii. Clarity and conciseness: presentation of clear, direct and explicit answers; ability to
go straight to the point and avoid unnecessary details; evidence of use of valid,
appropriate and relevant material; focus on answering the question and provision of
adequate and relevant context; ability to avoid unnecessary repetition.
iii. Writing competence: evidence of general proofreading to eliminate spelling and
grammatical errors (which interfere with understanding) and appropriate use of
discipline/subject specific terminology. You should also write the assignment in the third
person (i.e. you do not use ‘I’ or ‘we’).
iv. Academic credibility and integrity: appropriate use of resources and correct
referencing style where applicable.

via the unit’s Turnitin submission box by the deadline.

The maximum word count limit for this report is 2,200 words.
The report must be correctly referenced, using BU’s Harvard Referencing system (Author
Date Method), with both in-text references and a References list after the main body of the
text.
The 2,000-words (+/- 10%) count limit includes tables and charts placed in the body of the
text, but it excludes the References list, the title page, table of contents, and material included
in the appendices.
Please clearly indicate the word count on your title page.
